DIRECTOR: PROFESSOR OF ORTHOPAEDICS EFSTATHIOS CHRONOPOULOS
The subject of Metabolic Bone Diseases is a a globally recognized area within the pathology of the musculoskeletal system. It was first introduced into the undergraduate curriculum of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1985 as an elective course. Since 2002, it has been offered as a specialization within the then Postgraduate Programme Biomedical Research, under the track Clinical and Laboratory Medicine – Metabolic Bone Diseases.
Since 2007, it has operated as an independent Master of Science (MSc) Programme of the Faculty of Medicine of NKUA, possessing many years of experience in education and research in the field of Metabolic Bone Diseases.
The MSc Programme “Metabolic Bone Diseases” is supported by the Laboratory for the Research of Musculoskeletal System “Th. Garofalidis” of the Faculty of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, which is located at KAT Hospital.
The laboratory is active in both clinical and basic research on metabolic bone diseases and provides postgraduate students with opportunities to participate in research activities and clinical studies.
