SELECTION PROCEDURE

In the MSc "Metabolic Bone Diseases" are accepted holders of a degree of the first cycle of (graduate) studies of Departments of Universities of the country or equivalent, recognized by the Hellenic National Academic Recognition and Information Center (Hellenic NARIC), institutions abroad.

Specifically, graduates of the following departments are accepted:

Universities: Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Dietetics-Nutrition, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Science, Department of Sports Science and Physical Education, Greek Physical Education & Sport Science University Departments, Physiotherapy, Ergophysiology, Nursing, Dietetics, Radiology-technicians and other health sciences and related subjects.

 

Only one student per year may be admitted as supernumerary members of the Special Education Personnel, Laboratory Special Education Personnel and Special Technological Laboratory Personnel categories in accordance with the legislation in force.

 

The MSc in "Metabolic Bone Diseases" accepts fifty (50) students per academic year.

 

SELECTION PROCEDURE

The selection of students is made in accordance with the current legislation and the provisions of the Postgraduate Studies Regulation of the postgraduate program.

Every May, by decision of the Assembly of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, a notice for the admission of postgraduate students to the MSc is published and posted on the website of the MSc and the Institution. The relevant applications along with the necessary supporting documents are submitted to the Secretariat of the MSc, within a deadline set during the announcement that may be extended by decision of the Assembly of the School.

Necessary supporting documents are:

  1. Application Form
  2. Curriculum vitae
  3. Certified copy of degree or certificate of completion of studies
  4. Transcript of all years of study
  5. Publications in peer-reviewed journals, if any
  6. Evidence of professional or research activity, if any (e.g., publications, research, seminar attendance, etc.)
  7. Two-sided photocopy of the identity card
  8. Two letters of recommendation
  9. Certificate of English language proficiency, level B2
  10. Copy of relevant postgraduate degree (if any)
  11. Copy of transcript of postgraduate courses (if applicable)

The selection of the entrants is carried out by the Postgraduate Student Selection Committee consisting of three (3) faculty members or Special Education Personnel of the School. President of the Postgraduate Student Selection Committee is a faculty member. The other members shall be appointed by the Coordinating Committee.

The selection is carried out based on the following criteria:

  • Degree grade at a rate of 10%
  • Average score in three undergraduate courses related to the subject of the postgraduate program at a rate of 10%
  • Performance in a Diploma Thesis of a related subject, where this is provided for in the first cycle of studies (applies only to graduates of former Technological Institutes) or the attendance and grading of the Undergraduate Elective Course Metabolic Bone Diseases (applies only to graduates of a Medical School) at a rate of 10%
  • Certified knowledge of English at a rate of 10%
  • Research activity at a rate of 10%
  • Publications at a rate of 10%
  • Letters of recommendation at a rate of 10%
  • Oral interview at a rate of 30%

The Postgraduate Student Selection Committee undertakes a) the completeness check of the application files, b) the evaluation of the candidate Postgraduate Students and their ranking in order of success. Based on the overall criteria, the Coordinating Committee, after the recommendation of the Postgraduate Student Selection Committee, draws up the evaluation table of the students and submits it for approval to the Assembly.

Successful candidates must register with the Secretariat of the MSc within fifteen (15) days from the decision of the Assembly.

In the event of a tie, tied candidates are accepted as supernumerary at a rate not exceeding 10% of the maximum number of entrants.

In case of non-registration of one or more students, the runners-up, based on their order in the approved evaluation table, will be invited to enroll in the Program.
